The New Cathedral of Light
The new Estádio da Luz/Benfica Stadium was chosen to be the flagship of six stadiums built for the final of the 2004 European Soccer Championships.
Camatic Seating was called upon for this ambitious undertaking because of their patented beam system and the company’s years of experience in arena seating around the world.
Camatic Matrix seating was provided for general admission and two indoor pavilions, with Quantum 850 upholstered seating provided for the VIP areas.
The design of Matrix seating offers individual seat centres and exact alignment at row ends, providing consistent spacing along the rows and the optimum number of seats installed. Matrix features corrosion-resistant aluminium and a fully concealed counterweight, making it low maintenance, safe and reliable. Created using advanced injection moulding techniques and composite materials, Matrix is highly robust with a smooth finish.
The upholstered Quantum chairs have a more rounded form than traditional seating and feature individual arm and cup holders. Central to the design of Quantum is the extruded aluminium mounting beam which has separate fixing zones for the seat and supports brackets, thereby enabling seats to be easily repositioned by the venue operator. The Quantum seating system is fully modular with optional upholstery, arms and backrest extensions, all of which can be supplied upon installation or retrofitted in the field without demounting the entire chair. Quantum chairs can also be reconfigured by the venue operator, without the need
for specialist technicians.
